Hiroshige made a series of paintings of different locations of Edo (present day Tokyo) that are witness to how people from this time perceived the beauty of their city. In this print, we can appreciate the Sumida River from the Azuma Bridge during a rainy day. The usage of black in the top and the faded out strands of grey in the background perfectly transmit the atmosphere of a rainy day in the early summer. Hiroshige was fond of drawing bird’s-eye views of the capital, and the inclusion of a cuckoo bird was a popular theme to signify the rain in the beginning of summer. The faded out colors that characterize this piece were achieved by adding the pigments after moisturizing the wooden block, allowing them to slowly extend and intertwine creating the beautiful skies that we’re used to seeing in Hiroshige’s work.

打眼一看，天空阴的厉害，细雨中飞行的杜鹃鸟以及在风中摇曳的红旗格外显眼。说到杜鹃鸟，不禁有种凄凉哀伤之感。中国古代文人也经常使用杜鹃鸟来表达自己的哀伤，我想中国日本在这方面也是共通的吧。那随风摇曳的红旗到底是什么呢？原来是一家化妆品店挂上去的，就像在做广告一样说“这里有胭脂卖”，很有意思。

一見して、曇りがすごくて、雨を飛んでいるホトトギスと風になびく赤い旗は目立っている。ホトトギスというと、寂しさや悲しさが思わず出てきた。中国の昔の文人もよくホトトギスを使って、自分の寂しさや悲しさを表すことだから、この点について中国と日本は共通できるだろう。そして、その風になびく赤い旗は何だろう？実は、これは化粧品を販売している小間物屋が掲げているもので、「紅あります」の意味をもたせた広告みたいなものである。面白いですね。

다가오는 검은 구름과, 날카로운 빗발이 내리기 시작하는 긴장되는 순간을 그린 작품입니다. 그라데이션으로 하늘의 원근감을 나타낸 당시의 기술에 감동하지 않을 수가 없습니다. 참고로 빨간 깃발은　연지를 팔고 있다는 것을 광고하는 용도였다고 합니다.

近寄ってくる黒い雲と、するどいあまあしで雨が降り始める緊張の瞬間を描いた作品です。グラデーションで空の遠近感を表現した当時の記述に感動せざるを得ないです。ちなみに赤い旗は、当時流行っていた紅を売っています、ということを表す用途だったらしいです。

Hiroshige a réalisé une série de peintures représentant différents lieux d'Edo (aujourd'hui Tokyo), qui témoignent de la façon dont les gens percevaient à l'époque la beauté de leur ville. Dans cette estampe, nous pouvons apprécier la rivière Sumida depuis le pont Azuma, pendant un jour de pluie. L'utilisation du noir dans la partie supérieure ainsi que les esquisses de gris fanés en arrière-plan reproduisent parfaitement l'atmosphère d'un jour de pluie au début de l'été. Hiroshige aimait à dessiner des vues en contre-plongée de la capitale japonaise, et l'intégration du coucou symbolisait alors l'arrivée de la pluie au début de l'été. Les couleurs délavées qui caractérisent cette pièce ont été obtenues en ajoutant les pigments après avoir mouillé le support de bois, permettant ainsi leur propagation lente et leur entremêlement dans le but de créer ce magnifique ciel, si caractéristique du travail d'Hiroshige.

Hiroshige realizó una serie de cuadros de diferentes ubicaciones de Edo (actualmente Tokio) que son testigo de cómo la gente de esa época percibía la belleza de su ciudad. En este dibujo, podemos apreciar el río Sumida desde el puente Azuma durante un día lluvioso. El uso del negro en la parte superior y las marcas difuminadas de gris en el fondo transmiten perfectamente la atmósfera de un día de lluvia a principios de verano. Hiroshige era aficionado a pintar la capital a vista de pájaro, e incluir un pájaro cuco era una temática popular para expresar la lluvia a principios de verano. Los colores borrosos que caracterizan esta obra se obtuvieron añadiendo los pigmentos después de humedecer el bloque de madera, permitiendo que se extendieran despacio y se entrelazasen creando los bonitos cielos que estamos acostumbrados a ver en la obra de Hiroshige.
