The moment I lay my eyes on this piece, I was immediately stricken by its vibrant shade of green. Hiroshige’s style is known for his masterful use of blue and rosy colors to depict sunsets. However, in this work —which is said to have been carried out by his successor, Hiroshige II— the green, red and purple present a very intense shade, possibly as a result of the introduction of chemical pigments from overseas. Another element that I found interesting about this piece was the depiction of trees and the fog in the background. Compared to the shape of tree tops in other works, in this print the leaves in the mist have a rather round shape, which in turn gives the viewer a different experience. The travelers walking up the steep slope, drawn right in the middle of the picture and how they give way to the immense green and the blue curve of the water give this piece a rather bold composition.

Au moment où j'ai posé les yeux sur cette œuvre, j'ai été instantanément frappé par sa nuance vibrante de verts. Hiroshige est reconnu pour son utilisation magistrale des couleurs bleues et roses dans la représentation des couchers de soleil. Cependant, dans cette œuvre - qui aurait été réalisée par son successeur, Hiroshige II - le vert, le rouge et le violet présentent une nuance très intense ; peut-être à cause de l'introduction de pigments chimiques d'outre-mer. Un autre élément que j'ai trouvé intéressant dans cette œuvre a été la technique utilisée par l'artiste pour représenter les arbres et le brouillard en arrière-plan. Comparativement à la forme que revêtent les cimes des arbres dans d'autres œuvres, ici, les feuilles présentent une forme plutôt ronde, ce qui permet au spectateur de vivre une expérience différente. Au milieu de l'image, les voyageurs en train d'escalader une pente raide, cèdent la place à l'immense courbe verte et bleue de l'eau, donnent à cette œuvre une composition assez audacieuse.

El momento en el que puse mis ojos en esta pieza, me llamaron la atención sus vibrantes sombras en verde. El estilo de Hiroshige es conocido por su maravilloso uso del azul y los colores rosados para resaltar las puestas de sol. Sin embargo, en este trabajo, que se dice que fue llevado a cabo por su sucesor Hiroshige II, el verde, rojo y morado presentan una sombra intensa, posiblemente resultado de la introducción de pigmentos químicos traídos del extranjero. Otro elemento que me pareció interesante de esta pieza es el trazado de los árboles y de la niebla en el fondo. Comparado con la forma de las copas de los árboles en otras obras, en este dibujo las hojas en la niebla tienen una forma más bien redondeada, ofreciendo una experiencia diferente al espectador. Los viajeros que suben la inclinada ladera, dibujados justo en la mitad del cuadro dando paso a la enorme curva de agua azul y verde dan a esta obra una composición más bien atrevida.
