This is the absolute masterpiece of the One Hundred Views of Edo series, famously copied by Van Gogh. Once more, the rain is so well depicted one can almost feel and hear the thick raindrops falling onto our shoulders. One of the charms of this work is how the people crossing the bridge naturally cover themselves and hold onto the end of their clothes, transporting us to that very moment, making us feel like we are seeking shelter with them. As we would expect from Hiroshige, we can appreciate a magnificent use of the blue pigment, creating that beautiful faded effect that inspired so many in 19th century Europe. One aspect that I find particularly impressive is how the gradation is perfectly maintained even through the gaps of the intricate wooden bridge. Finally, the lonely boatman and the trees in the mist really put the cherry on top of this piece by creating a captivating atmosphere and a realistic sensation of perspective.

Voici le chef-d'œuvre absolu de la série Cent vues d'Edo, célèbrement copié par Van Gogh. Une fois de plus, la pluie est si bien représentée que l'on peut presque sentir et entendre les gouttes de pluie tomber à grand fracas sur nos épaules. L'un des charmes de cette œuvre réside dans la façon dont les personnes qui traversent le pont se couvrent naturellement et s'accrochent au bout de leurs vêtements, nous transportant à ce moment précis, nous donnant l'impression de chercher l'abri avec elles. Sans grande surprise, Hiroshige nous donne à apprécier une magnifique déclinaison de bleus, qui créé ce joli effet fané, ayant inspiré tant d'artistes en Europe au 19ème siècle. L'un des aspects que je trouve particulièrement impressionnant est la façon dont la gradation de couleurs est maintenue à la perfection, même à travers les espaces du pont en bois. Quant au batelier solitaire et aux arbres qui se perdent dans la brume, ceux-ci finissent de clôturer l'œuvre, en créant une atmosphère mystérieuse et une sensation réaliste de perspective.

Esta es la obra maestra de las series Cien Vistas de Edo, copiadas por el célebre Van Gogh. Una vez más, la lluvia está tan bien representada que uno casi puede sentir y oír las espesas gotas de lluvia cayendo sobre sus hombros. Uno de los encantos de este trabajo son las personas que cruzan el puente cubriéndose y sujetando sus ropas con naturalidad, transportándonos a ese preciso momento, haciéndonos sentir que buscamos cobijo junto a ellos. Al igual de lo que esperaríamos de Hiroshige, podemos apreciar el magnífico uso del pigmento azul, creando ese precioso efecto difuminado que a tantos inspiró en la Europa del siglo XIX. Un aspecto que encuentro particularmente impresionante es como el degradado se mantiene perfectamente homogéneo a través de las aperturas del intrincado puente de madera. Finalmente, el solitario barquero y los árboles de la niebla ponen la guinda a esta obra al crear una atmósfera cautivadora y una sensación de perspectiva realista.
